Frequently Asked Questions

Why did you decide to be a missionary?

I feel that God has called me specifically to this ministry, specifically to men and women in prostitution and specifically to Costa Rica. I decided to be obedient to His calling because I have never had any success telling God “No”!

Why can’t you do that work here in the US?

I believe that God has been preparing me all of my life for this specific ministry.  He has given me a love and skill for the Spanish language, allowed me to visit and live in Costa Rica and given me a burden and compassion for these specific people. See more on my Why Costa Rica page.

What makes you qualified to do this?

I struggled with this question a lot in the beginning. I do not have formal training or education in this area. I am not a social worker or a psychiatrist, but I believe that God has called me to use the skills I do have.  I have experienced a cycle of shame and sin in my own life so I understand the hopelessness a person can feel about escaping that cycle.  I believe that God has called me to this specific mission to be specifically ME. I also continue to take classes that will assist me in being better prepared.  I have taken a missions course called Perspectives, and audited college classes on Pastoral Ministry and Biblical Counseling. I am currently praying about potentially going back to school for psychology.

What is Mission Enablers International?

MEI is an inter-denominational  mission sending agency. Instead of requiring missionaries to adhere to a specific vision, they help to equip missionaries to follow the specific calling that God has laid on their hearts.

When I make a donation to Ripe For Harvest:

Is it tax deductible?

Yes. MEI is a 501(c)3 company. All donations are tax deductible.

If you do not require a tax deduction, donations can be made by check, PayPal or Venmo.

How do you get the money?

When money is donated it must be designated to go to my account BR3830.  I receive all donations weekly deposited to my US bank account.

Do you have to pay taxes on my donation?

Yes. I am considered to be self-employed and I receive a 1099.

When you are in Costa Rica:

Who are you going with?

I am “alone”. I am not under any specific mission agency or organization, but I partner with several organizations in San Jose.

Who will you partner with?

I partner primarily with LightForce International.  I also partner with AMCA an organization that exists to serve missions and missionaries. More and more of my time is going to the work of Redeem Costa Rica as God leads and the scope of the mission expands.

Where will you live?

I am currently living in an apartment in a neighborhood called Barrio Dent.  It is an ideal location close to grocery stores, banks, and my offices.

How will you get around?

I typically use Uber if a ride from friends is unavailable.

What are your goals?

My main goal is to go where God leads and always be an available vessel for the Gospel.

My current tangible goal is to start a food pantry and be able to meet the needs of people in crisis poverty using food as a method to reach them with the love of Christ.
